Lab Assistant - Weekends
Job Description
Reporting to and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (DMET), School of Mining, Energy and Manufacturing, this position will function as an assistant to the technician for the DMET programs and, under supervision of the technician, would perform or assist with the following duties:
1. Install, maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software and peripherals
2. Operate and maintain computer network
3. Operate 3D printers and other
Reporting to and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (DMET), School of Mining, Energy and Manufacturing, this position will function as an assistant to the technician for the DMET programs and, under supervision of the technician, would perform or assist with the following duties:
1. Install, maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software and peripherals
2. Operate and maintain computer network
3. Operate 3D printers and other manufacturing equipment
4. Assist students with issues related to printing, plotting, and software operation (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, MasterCAM, Office suite)
5. Maintain printers, 3D printers, CNC equipment, manufacturing automation equipment and other related equipment
6. Drafting services as required using AutoCAD / Inventor
7. Other miscellaneous duties.
Qualifications for the position:
1. Graduation from a CAD/CAM Engineering Technology or Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
2. One year recent experience as a technologist utilizing Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing applications (AutoCAD/Inventor/MasterCAM) and 3D printers;
3. Knowledge of or experience with current common PC computer hardware, software and networking capabilities;
4. Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills;
5. Ability to work with people from equity groups.
