Responsibilities:
Direct and oversee purchasing-related activities and functions, ensuring compliance with ISO standards
Facilitate the development and growth of purchasing department personnel, coordination of training and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the process and personnel performance
Establish and maintain appropriate vendor relations, lead and assist in negotiations with suppliers
Ensure that best practice procurement procedures are followed regarding source selection, soliciting bids, cost/price analysis, negotiations, the development and issuing of contracts, contract administration, negotiating adjustments with suppliers and the termination of contracts
Create measurable KPIs for staff and reporting tools to report department successes to senior management
Contract negotiation for major commodities and services; review and approve all contracts for MRO items, including strategic purchasing
Negotiate contracts for Capex projects and work with purchasing agents/supervisors and engineering up front in developing the sourcing strategies for projects and assist with the purchasing of capital items and services
Qualifications:
Business Administration or Supply Chain Degree or post-secondary education in a related field
Minimum seven years experience in purchasing management function in heavy manufacturing & multi-tasking environment
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in a union environment
Familiar with Best Management Practices of Purchasing, including negotiating, contracting and supplier management
Experience with ERP & Oracle Financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to lead in a team environment
