In this position you will bridge the needs of the program area within the strategic goals of the School of Nursing with a lens on continuous improvement and quality, supporting academics, enriching learning experiences, and enhancing programming with innovative teaching, programs, and delivery.
The Academic Chair has knowledge of the post-secondary sector, is responsible for academic leadership, operational management, and ensures programs and services are delivered with a focus on quality education and training delivery. This is achieved by maintaining effective links with the business sectors, industry, government, accrediting agencies, and other educational institutions as they relate to future programming needs. As Academic Chair you will lead the program(s), faculty and staff in innovative student-centered programs and teaching excellence.
The Academic Chair reports to the Associate Dean, School of Nursing. The Academic Chair is responsible for leading program staff and faculty in the effective and innovative delivery of programs and services, and primary responsibilities that include:
Academic leadership, and the full employee life cycle for faculty and staff (staffing, recruitment, selection, orientation, performance management, training, and development),
Operations and administration management (financial management, people management, facility management, and project planning),
Strategic planning, continuous improvement, and innovation,
Operational needs and requirements for program area (monitoring fiscal resources and recommending efficiencies within program(s)), and
Advocate and support program area(s) (engaging with internal and external stakeholders, business sectors, government partners or other educational institutions).
