School Caretaker

Job Description
Under the direction of the school administrator for all day-to-day operations and the Caretaking Manager for all technical components, the caretaker is responsible for providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, staff and the public and overseeing day to day building operations, working as part of both the school-specific and Division-wide Facilities teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
Under the direction of the school administrator for all day-to-day operations and the Caretaking Manager for all technical components, the caretaker is responsible for providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, staff and the public and overseeing day to day building operations, working as part of both the school-specific and Division-wide Facilities teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and ability to safely monitor and reset a boiler and associated+ HVAC system.
Ability to safely operate floor cleaning, stripping and waxing equipment and outdoor equipment such as snow blowers and lawnmowers.
Ability to perform basic building maintenance and repair functions.
Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.
Education & Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
WHMIS training is an asset.
Firemans Certificate is an asset.
Minimum 3 years caretaking experience
Working Conditions:
As per CUPE Agreement
Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day; exact scheduling to be determined
Commencing June 17, 2024 and ending September 1, 2025 or upon return of incumbent.
Starting salary $21.38 per hour
Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting heavy objects, moving furniture
