Job Description
Oskayak High School is an urban First Nations School that is funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, governed by the Kitotiminawak Parent Council and operated by Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. The school, located on Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon, is comprised of approximately 290 students in a grade 9 to 12 program. Oskayak is staffed with a full-time principal and vice principal,
Oskayak High School is an urban First Nations School that is funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, governed by the Kitotiminawak Parent Council and operated by Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. The school, located on Broadway Avenue in Saskatoon, is comprised of approximately 290 students in a grade 9 to 12 program. Oskayak is staffed with a full-time principal and vice principal, 15 professional staff and 8 support staff. Program goals include student engagement, attendance and graduation; infusion of Cree language and culture; problem-based learning; broad access to technology and an inter-agency approach to student supports.
The successful applicant must possess:
- A Master's degree in education
- Eligibility for a Saskatchewan teacher's certificate
- Knowledge of Cree language and culture
- A minimum of five years experience in educational leadership
- Demonstrated results in First Nations and Metis student engagement, attendance and graduation
- The ability to foster community partnerships
- Experience in evidence-based programming
- The ability to develop a strong staff team
For the purposes of transferability and advancement within the school division, preference will be given to applicants who meet the requirements of employment within Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. This position commences at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
