Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for managing various communications initiatives for the company, including media management, promotions, social media, and more. Canadian Western Agribition is seeking a Communications Associate who has a passion for communications and thrives on working in a fun, fast-paced, event driven environment. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for managing various communications initiatives for the company, including media management, promotions, social media, and more. This is a unique opportunity to expand your marketing and communications experience, broaden your network both domestically and internationally, and experience the exciting event industry.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Plan and implement media events
- Prepare news releases and manage media lists and contacts
- Manage and advance Agribitions website and social media accounts Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
- Coordinate on-site and off-site promotions
- Manage volunteer and member database
- Create and distribute quarterly newsletter
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in communications and/or public relations
- Post-secondary education in the marketing or communications field is preferred
- Strong knowledge of communications, including familiarity with marketing and promotional strategies
- Experience and/or training in crisis management is an asset
- Media management experience
- High level computer skills
- Website and social media management experience is considered an asset
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Effective organizational, administrative and time management skills
- Attention to detail; ability to think on your feet
- Positive attitude; personable; professional
- Effective team player
