FHQTC is seeking a dynamic motivated individual to fill the position of Director of Education and will join a team of education professionals seeking to provide second level services for lifelong learning in a Treaty and Inherent Rights context. Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance and Administration the Director of Education will be responsible for the management, planning and delivery of departmental goals and objectives.
The Director of Education will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in developing an integrated and strategic approach to capacity building within the department and engage current staff, FHQTC entities and schools to foster collaborative opportunities for the development of education initiatives and frameworks. Other responsibilities include supervision of program and staff, annual budget and work plan preparation, funding submissions and establishing education governance structures.
Successful candidate will practice leadership in a manner that is viewed positively and has the support of 12 Nations in the identification, support and delivery of education services; will lead and coordinate the development of Education Services options to meet the visions and needs of the Nations we serve and successfully achieve desired outcomes.
The candidate should possess:
-Masters of Education and and eligible for League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents (LEADS) membership;
-A minimum of 5 years successful education leadership position(s);
-Experience working with First Nations schools and communities;
-Experience in professional development delivery and staff supervision;
-Extensive knowledge of educational administration, curriculum, instruction and needs-based approaches;
-Superior interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop and implement strategic priorities;
-Familiarity and respect for First Nations values, culture and traditions;
-Security Clearance and vulnerable sector check
