Job Description
The Production Technician is responsible for the overall care of the pigs in all areas of the barn.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure proper handling and comfort of pigs
- Carry out feeding routine for pigs
- Weigh, sort and move pigs
- Recognize and treat common diseases and disorders of finishing pigs
- Operate feed handling equipment and perform routine service
- Provide water and perform

- Ensure proper handling and comfort of pigs
- Carry out feeding routine for pigs
- Weigh, sort and move pigs
- Recognize and treat common diseases and disorders of finishing pigs
- Operate feed handling equipment and perform routine service
- Provide water and perform routine maintenance on water drinkers
- Interpret labels, handle and administer medications and vaccines
- Ensure the Unit's biosecurity protocol is followed by all staff and visitors
- Operate a high pressure washer and ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards for the Unit are met
- Follow safe manure management procedures when cleaning out manure pits
- Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature using automated control system
- Ensure accurate records are kept and submitted in a timely fashion to head office (weekly summary {pig movement}, weekly mortality and market load sheets)
- Responsible to act safely in performing job duties at all times
- Reporting safety concerns to the safety representative and/or Unit Manager.
- Other duties as required
