Job Description
Position Summary:
The Indigenous Cultural Helper supports culturally grounded, trauma-informed care by integrating traditional Indigenous knowledge and practices into programming. This role enhances spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical well-being for clients by providing cultural teachings and ceremonies and supporting identity and connection to culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support cultural practices such as smudging, sharing circles, and land-based teachings.
Assist Elders and Knowledge Keepers

This role enhances spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical well-being for clients by providing cultural teachings and ceremonies and supporting identity and connection to culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support cultural practices such as smudging, sharing circles, and land-based teachings.
Assist Elders and Knowledge Keepers with ceremonies and traditional teachings.
Help coordinate seasonal ceremonies, feasts, and community events.
Provide culturally appropriate mentorship and spiritual support to clients.
Educate clients and staff on Indigenous traditions, history, and healing practices.
Collaborate with team members to ensure culturally safe programming.
Qualifications:
Lived experience and strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and protocols.
Understanding of colonization, residential school impacts, and intergenerational trauma.
Respectful approach to working with Elders and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.
Assets:
Indigenous language skills.
Knowledge of traditional medicines and ceremonial protocols.
Experience in treatment or healing environments.
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel if needed.
Working Conditions:
Includes occasional evenings/weekends, indoor/outdoor activities, and participation in ceremonies.
