Flying Dust First Nation Housing Department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to provide services to the Community Housing Department under the supervision of the Housing Manager. Housing plays an important role in the functioning of the community. Not only does adequate housing fulfil a basic human right, it also makes a social commitment to our children, while promoting and encouraging private home ownership responsibility. Reporting directly to the Housing Manager the Journeyman Plumber will work with other departments, by participating in and promoting a team approach.
Duties included but are not limited to:
Preference will be given to applicants who have both commercial and residential experience
Must have a Provincial Gas Fitter License, General/Domestic/Commercial gas ticket
Backflow testing license an asset
Ability to perform all plumbing repairs and replacements according to code
Ability to install all types of piping systems for water, sewer, and wet heat
Ability to thread black iron piping and to install various types of material for gas line installations according to code
Qualifications:
Appropriate credentials and certifications - Industrial Plumber Trade Certification, 5th Period Apprentice, Industrial Plumber Red Seal Certificate, Gasfitter 2nd class, Gasfitter Certification of Qualification or be a Registered Apprentice
Must possess the ability to work with little or no supervision, and work in a team atmosphere.
Must have the ability to effectively work and communicate with the public, Chief and Council, fellow employees and the general membership.
Knowledge of First Nation Culture; Tradition and Language is a definite asset.
Must be punctual, dependable.
