The Food Centre has a job opening for a Food Crop Quality Technician. This position will assist the Food Crop Quality Team in analyzing whole seeds and flours of a series of food-grade crops. Training will be provided.
Duties and responsibilities:
Safely operate various analytical instruments, such as protein analyzer, texture analyzer, HPLC, RVA, NIR, mastersizer, rotary evaporator, spectrophotometer, mill, muffle furnace, oven, water bath, hot plates, and analytical balances.
Laboratory work and data record-keeping.
Read and accurately follow operating manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Candidates should have attention to detail and be able to report any new findings, discrepancies, or errors in the experiments.
Ability to lift weights up to 22.3 kg.
Follow established QA/QC standards at the Food Centre.
Qualifications:
A diploma, bachelors, or masters degree in Food Science, Plant Science, or related fields is preferred.
Candidates with experience analyzing seed quality, flour composition, and functional properties are preferred.
Other required skills: good communication, writing skills, computer knowledge, and efficient experiment planning.
