The Manager will be responsible for leading & overseeing the planning, coordination, & execution of all activities related to Public Works, ensuring efficient operations & compliance with municipal policies & regulations. This role requires strong leadership, decision-making, & organizational skills to manage a team & infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop & manage long-range capital plans, annual capital & operating budgets for Public Works
Supervise, train, & evaluate staff; participate in recruitment, promotion, & disciplinary processes
Plan & implement infrastructure maintenance, construction, & service delivery (roads, sidewalks, drainage, snow removal, solid waste, street lighting, cemetery operations)
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, equipment inventory, & department activities
Prepare work plans, project estimates, & oversee tendering processes
Attend Council meetings; provide regular reports/recommendations on operations
Respond to public inquiries & complaints professionally
Foster a safe, inclusive, & productive work environment complying with OH&S standards
Collaborate with other departments on joint projects
Promote the services & activities of Public Works
Required Qualifications
Grade 12/equivalent education
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in public works or municipal operations (supervisory experience)
Strong background in infrastructure operations, maintenance, equipment management, & budget administration
Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License
Preferred
Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology/related field
Fireman's Certificate (boiler operator)
Experience working with unionized staff
Knowledge of asset management & software
OH&S Levels I/II
