Slashers often work in outdoor environments such as forests, fields, and construction sites.
Responsibilities:
Operate tools such as machetes, chainsaws, slashers, and brush cutters to clear dense vegetation, weeds, and overgrown brush
Prepare sites for construction, farming, or forest management by ensuring land is free of unwanted vegetation
Follow all safety protocols when using heavy machinery or sharp tools.
Perform basic maintenance on clearing equipment to ensure it is in good working condition, including checking fuel, oil, and sharpness of blades
Manage and dispose of cleared vegetation
Work with supervisors, landowners, or other team members to meet project goals and timelines
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of experience
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in outdoor environments, often in challenging weather conditions
Experience operating chainsaws, slashers, brush cutters, and other vegetation-clearing tools
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
Good communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and fellow workers
Chainsaw operation or equipment handling certification may be required
