The City of Prince Albert is seeking to fill the permanent full time role of Purchasing Manager in the Public Works department. This position will plan, implement and manage purchasing policies and procedures for the City and advise departments and managers on the procurement process. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for obtaining competitive pricing on required goods and services, maintaining positive supplier relationships and to ensure all departments follow purchasing policies and guidelines, legal and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Business or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation or working towards it.
5+ years experience in a purchasing role preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.
Class 5 Driver's License.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Work in partnership with internal customers in developing tenders, quotations and RFP specifications and marketing the related procurement opportunities to external customers.
Maintains a continuous improvement process throughout the Citys procurement process.
Develops and maintains the Citys procurement templates for departments to use.
Continuously source and evaluate local and provincial markets for competitive pricing on City products and services.
Work in partnership with other organizations to identify opportunities to improve supply chain pricing.
Manage the Citys procurement software, which includes maintaining and enhancing the Citys supplier list.
Ensure policies and procedures related to the purchase of goods and services throughout the City are complied with.
Supervise, schedule and manage the performance of employees assigned to the Storeroom.
Ensure Stores inventory levels are maintained.
