Job Summary
The Unit Manager is responsible for the daily management and coordination of the unit to ensure all the company goals & objectives are met. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the unit while maintaining a clean professional site.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Supervise and lead a team of technicians
Perform required administrative duties - work schedules, payroll timesheets, expenses, etc
Provide training and mentoring

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Supervise and lead a team of technicians
Perform required administrative duties - work schedules, payroll timesheets, expenses, etc
Provide training and mentoring ensuring SOPs are followed and implemented
Provide regular feedback to staff including through the annual performance evaluation program
Comply with company policies regarding the hiring, discipline and termination of employees
Responsible for planning work schedules for barn staff
Lead or aid with the movement of pigs in and out of assigned unit
Ensure unit is CPE & ACA compliant
Responsible for implementing and following assigned feed budgets
Ensure low stress animal handling practices are being followed
Implement all biosecurity protocols
Work with Health Services to implement herd health protocols sanitation, treatments, vaccinations, etc.
Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature control settings for the unit
Coordinate maintenance in and outside of barn
Understand OH&S regulations associated with the Unit and ensure compliance with the use of personal protective equipment, safe work procedures and company policies
Conduct regular staff meetings
Maintain proper inventory of barn supplies
Test, respond and acknowledge barn alarms and ensure adequate coverage for afterhours is maintained at all times & be available for emergency duties
Ensure preventative maintenance & procedures on barn equipment are performed and verified
REQUIREMENTS
Strong personnel, leadership, time management, training & motivational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Computer skills ability to understand and analyze production and financial budgets
An empathetic nature toward animals
