The Indigenous Student Success Co-Lead works to provide both generalized and specialized leadership and support to school-based administrators, teachers, and other professionals across the school division in a collective effort to improve opportunities and achievement for Indigenous students. The Indigenous Student Success Co-Lead works to provide both generalized and specialized leadership and support to school-based administrators, teachers, and other professionals across the school division in a collective effort to improve opportunities and achievement for Indigenous students. ISSCLs report to the The Key administration team but have a close working relationship with the Principal, and the Superintendent of Indigenous Education, the Indigenous Education Team, as well as to the Central Curriculum and Instruction Team. The ISSCLs will adhere to the GSSD school standard protocols.
This position will increase the awareness of Indigenous student needs and will provide daily support for Indigenous students as necessary. ISSCLs should be open to providing students the opportunity to learn from a variety of different Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers. This position will represent the Division in a positive, professional manner and serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with organizations offering external sources of funding.
Ability to motivate others to implement innovative instructional practices that respond to the needs of Indigenous students.
Supports and ensures the success of Indigenous students through positive connections with families, the community, and outside agencies.
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
