The People & Organizational Culture department of the City of Swift Current is looking for a full-time, permanent Human Resources Generalist to join our team. Reporting to the Director of People and Organizational Culture, the HR Generalist is the first point of contact for employees and supervisors. This role provides guidance, clarity, and support on everyday HR matters. The HR Generalist helps leaders build confidence in navigating employee relations, performance management, and workplace culture while ensuring policies and collective agreements are clearly explained and consistently applied. This key role supports all Human Resource functions such as talent management, retention, engagement, employee and labour relations, corporate training, HR database administration and records management. This position works closely with Payroll and Occupational Health and Safety.
Required Qualifications:
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or related field.
Four (4) to six (6) years Human Resources experience.
Strong working knowledge of HRIS (ie. Dayforce), Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and organizational chart tools.
Solid understanding of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, and applicable privacy legislation.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism, diplomacy, and discretion in sensitive situations.
Skilled in managing time effectively, balancing multiple priorities, and delivering projects from initiation to completion, including tracking departmental expenditures.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to research, prepare, and maintain accurate HR records and documentation.
Builds trust and credibility at all levels through strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
Provides practical, fair, and consistent HR guidance, mentoring new and emerging leaders in employee relations, performance management, and people practices.
