Job Description
THE POSITION
The Daycare/Head Start Cook is responsible for all aspects of the nutrition program - menu planning, shopping, food preparation, food storge and maintaining a safe, clean kitchen. Other cleaning duties for the program will be assigned as required.

The Daycare/Head Start Cook is responsible for all aspects of the nutrition program - menu planning, shopping, food preparation, food storge and maintaining a safe, clean kitchen. Other cleaning duties for the program will be assigned as required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the nutritional requirements of young children and adults.
- Understands and follows food regulations, policies and procedures, and safety rules/practices.
- Ability to use traditional First Nation teachings about food to support programming for children and families, would be an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily preparation of nutritious snacks and lunch and following the follow the Canada/Indigenous Food Guide.
- Clients range from 40 children ages 3 and 6.
- Ensure to know your clients of likes, dislikes, and food allergies.
- Collaborate with the Day Care and Head Strat Coordinator:
1. to create monthly schedule for preparing of meals and snack for the parents/caregivers.
2. Prepare the grocery list as per the monthly food schedule.
3. Prepare freezer meal(s) in an event when the cook needs to be absent.
4. Ensure the delivery time of the meals are consistent.
- Will be required to pick-up of groceries and supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Training in food preparation or certification would be an asset.
- Certification at Orientation level for Early Childhood Education (ECE Level 1) would be an asset.
- Minimum of two years related experience working in a full time position.
- Safe Food Handling certification, WHIMS and First Aid/CPR.
- A valid Saskatchewan driver's license and meet MFN insurance requirements.
- The selected candidate will have to provide a three (3) year driver's abstract.
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and a vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment.
