Purpose:
The Indigenous Community Worker is a liaison between Indigenous families and the school. This position will increase the awareness of Indigenous family needs and will provide daily support for Indigenous students as necessary. Indigenous Community Workers will understand that NESD students come from many different cultural backgrounds and may have different beliefs regarding cultural practices. The Indigenous Community Worker should be open to providing students the opportunity to learn from a variety of different Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers. This position will represent the Division in a positive, professional manner and serve as a primary point of contact and liaison with Indigenous student and their families.
