The City of Swift Current is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Pool Technician position in the Aquatics department. Under the supervision of the Manager of Aquatics, this role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all mechanical systems in the aquatic facilities (Aquatic Centre and Fairview Pool) to ensure safe and efficient operation of systems, as well as all aspects of janitorial maintenance in all areas of the aquatic facilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess an understanding of pool equipment such as pumps, filters, heaters and air exchangers.
Ability to undertake all aspects of janitorial and equipment maintenance operations.
Ability to use basic hand tools to complete a variety of small tasks and repairs.
Ability to perform basic routine maintenance of equipment as required.
Ability to deal tactfully and communicate effectively with the public and coworkers.
Ability to communicate in written and oral forms in clear and concise manner.
Ability to execute and understand oral and written instructions.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and use sound judgement when performing routine activities.
Commitment to be available to work evenings and weekends, as required for special events.
Required Qualifications
Completion of Grade 12.
A valid Class 5 drivers license.
Completion of Respect Group Training and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon hire.
Desirable Qualifications
- Pool Operators Certificate or post-secondary courses, training or experience specifically related to operation and maintenance of pool equipment, pumps, filters, heaters, air exchangers, etc.
- Knowledge of OHS Guidelines as well as the City of Swift Current Safety Policies and Procedures.
- First Aid Training
- OH&S Level 1 & 2
- SCBA Certification
- Confined Space Certificate
- Fall Arrest Training
- TDG Certificate
- Fireman's Prep Course
- WHMIS
