The Horticulture and Forestry Supervisor oversees the maintenance, staffing, and overall operations of the Citys urban forestry, beautification, and pest and weed control programs, as well as the activities of the Crescent Park maintenance crews.

The Horticulture and Forestry Supervisor oversees the maintenance, staffing, and overall operations of the Citys urban forestry, beautification, and pest and weed control programs, as well as the activities of the Crescent Park maintenance crews.
Some duties this position will perform are:
- Supervise and lead a team in the Parks Division
- Develop and implement programs, maintenance schedules and plans ensuring they promote community pride, beautification, and sustainability
- Oversee the allocation of resources to accomplish maintenance tasks and projects
- Conduct regular inspections of parks and open spaces to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential improvements
- Research and identify horticultural and arboricultural grant opportunities and complete the grant preparation and submission process
- Address public inquiries, concerns, and complaints related to parks and open spaces promptly and professionally
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and a strong commitment to customer service
- Serve as a Municipal Inspector as it relates to the provincial Forest Resources Management Act and Weed Control Act
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Diploma or Degree in arboriculture, horticulture, or related field
- ISA Arborist Certification
- Experience in horticulture and forestry and 2 years supervisory experience
- Knowledge of plant species and sustainable and environmentally friendly horticulture and forestry practices
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Certifications completed within the first month to 1 year including: Power Mobile Equipment Training, WHIMIS, Provincial Pesticide Applicator, Standard First Aid & CPR, Level 1 and Level 2 OHC, Chainsaw Safety Training and Class 3 with air brake endorsement
