The Ministry of Social Services is hiring Income Assistance Workers to help citizens build better lives through economic independence, strong families, and strong communities. This role offers meaningful work that supports Saskatchewans most vulnerable people in meeting basic needs and working toward self-sufficiency.
We are seeking citizen-centered, collaborative, and empathetic individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, crisis-driven environment with frequent change and multiple priorities. You will work with diverse individuals and families facing barriers such as addictions, mental illness, disability, and unemployment. Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations are essential.
Ideal candidates will have knowledge of human service programs, social issues such as poverty and systemic barriers, and demonstrate respect for multicultural perspectives, especially First Nations and Metis. Skills in motivational interviewing, supportive interaction, and explaining basic budgeting principles are required. You must be able to interpret and apply policy and legislation, organize and present information clearly, and work collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and community partners. Proficiency with computer programs and databases is necessary.
