Custodian & Maintenance staff are responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff, visitors, and animals. This position is ideal for a hard-working individual who takes pride in doing a thorough job and enjoys physical, hands-on work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Previous cleaning experience and familiarity with cleaning products and equipment are considered assets but not required.

Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Self-motivated and able to work independently while effectively setting and achieving goals.
NATURE OF WORK:
This position reports directly to the Manager of Administration and Finance and supports smooth daily operations behind the scenes. Primary responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing facilities, maintaining general cleanliness throughout the building, and performing light maintenance tasks as needed. Occasional seasonal outdoor tasks may be required.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing floors throughout the facility.
Fully cleaning all bathrooms including toilets, floors, sinks, and one shower.
Emptying all garbage and recycling bins.
Keeping inventory of cleaning supplies and reporting to management when supplies are needed.
Maintaining cleanliness of entire building including windows, doors, counters, and other surfaces.
Keeps record of tasks completed each shift and prioritizes duties.
Performing light maintenance tasks as needed.
Responsible for knowing and adhering to shelter policies and procedures.
Responsible for performing duties in a professional, proactive manner to achieve and maintain good public relations and excellent customer service.
Reporting maintenance repairs as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
