Wage/Salary
Range $25 to $35/hour dependent on qualifications

Job Description
The water treatment plant operator is responsible for ensuring our community continues to receive safe, high-quality drinking water. Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring greensand filtration systems, overseeing UV disinfection equipment, monitoring raw water conditions and adjusting filtration/disinfection processes, performing routine sampling and water quality testing, maintaining accurate operational logs, conducting preventative maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, completing all notices
The water treatment plant operator is responsible for ensuring our community continues to receive safe, high-quality drinking water. Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring greensand filtration systems, overseeing UV disinfection equipment, monitoring raw water conditions and adjusting filtration/disinfection processes, performing routine sampling and water quality testing, maintaining accurate operational logs, conducting preventative maintenance, ordering chemicals and supplies, completing all notices required and providing detailed reports to the Park Board on operations, and working collaboratively with the Park Board to ensure consistent and efficient treatment plant operations.
The candidate must have:
A valid Class 2 Water Treatment Operator Certificate recognized by the Operator Certification Board;
An understanding of iron and manganese removal processes, UV dose requirements, and multi-barrier treatment principles;
The ability to interpret UV intensity readings and lab results;
A Class 5 driving licence;
Mechanical aptitude;
The ability to work shifts, weekends and participate in on call duties as needed during peak season; and
Experience with greensand filtration, oxidation/permanganate feed, and UV disinfection systems is strongly preferred.
