The Crew Lead Forestrys primary duties are those involving the care and maintenance of the Citys urban forest but may also be required to assist with other general Park related tasks.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs specific to the Citys urban forest management plan initiatives
- Maintain systematic, complete and accurate records
The Crew Lead Forestrys primary duties are those involving the care and maintenance of the Citys urban forest but may also be required to assist with other general Park related tasks.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance programs specific to the Citys urban forest management plan initiatives
- Maintain systematic, complete and accurate records and supporting documents
- Ensure safe and effective utilization of personnel and equipment
- Ensure work orders and request for service are complete, accurate & timely
- Perform and assist with tree maintenance and tree removal, cabling, bracing, and pruning using an aerial device
- Supervise and perform a variety of fully skilled and manual tasks independently such as tree and hedge pruning, tree planting, spraying, turf care, pathway clearing and outdoor ice rink maintenance
- Coach, train, evaluate and record disciplinary action
- Drive, operate, inspect and maintain various vehicles and equipment
The ideal candidate will have at a minimum:
- Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ISA Certified Arborist Certification or Technical Diploma in related field
- 2 years experience in forestry management including tree pruning, tree removals, and tree identification
- 2 years supervisory experience showing an ability to supervise, organize and direct the activities of multiple employees at once or completion of City of Moose Jaw Performance Management training
- Familiarity with Windows based computer systems
- Unassisted heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to operate equipment and vehicles required for the delivery of programs and services in parks and green spaces
- Class 3 Drivers License
- Ability to successfully complete additional training requirements and certifications required. (ex. WHIMIS, First Aid, Pruning Certificate, etc.)
