The Ministry of Education is offering a term opportunity of nine months or less for an Early Learning and Child Care Consultant in Regina. The ministry provides leadership to education, early years, library, and literacy sectors and is committed to equitable, inclusive systems that benefit all learners while advancing reconciliation and embedding Indigenous knowledge and languages in policies and curricula. Consultants play a key role in implementing the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. Reporting to the Program Manager, this position develops, licenses, and monitors child care services, supports parents and caregivers, assists communities in meeting child care needs, recruits and retains licensed family child care providers, ensures public access to early childhood information, and enforces The Child Care Act and Regulations. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who builds strong relationships, mediates and negotiates solutions diplomatically, identifies issues and determines appropriate actions, and independently plans and prioritizes work. Knowledge and experience are typically gained through formal education in early childhood care, child development, and programming, experience as a child care centre director, and understanding of non-profit administration and board dynamics. A valid Saskatchewan drivers license and access to a vehicle are required for travel and overnight stays. French language skills are considered an asset.
