We are hiring an Income Assistance Worker to provide meaningful support to individuals and families facing barriers such as addictions, mental illness, disability, and unemployment. We seek a collaborative, empathetic professional committed to client-centered service. The role involves engaging clients to assess needs and goals, developing and monitoring plans, and working with colleagues and community partners to mobilize resources and promote independence. Candidates should have education or experience in Human Services such as Social Work, Indigenous Social Work, Sociology, Human Justice, or Psychology. Knowledge of social issues, diversity, poverty, and systemic barriers is essential, along with understanding multicultural perspectives, particularly First Nations and Mtis. Ability to interpret policy and legislation, apply motivational interviewing techniques, and explain budgeting principles is required. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills are critical. The ideal candidate remains calm under pressure, works effectively in a fast-paced, crisis-driven environment, and demonstrates respect and professionalism. Proficiency with computer programs and databases is necessary. Responsibilities include case management, client engagement, plan development, and collaboration with service providers. Work occurs in varied settings including offices, communities, and virtual environments. Travel within or between communities is required, and a valid drivers license is mandatory.
