Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Lands & Resources, the Land Code Manager shall provide leadership, management, coordination of Kahkewistahaw activities and ensure compliance with regulations and standard operating procedures. The Lands Code Manager will be responsible for meeting the objectives of the Kahkewistahaw Land Code projects related to the use, occupancy and possession of Kahkewistahaw
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director of Lands & Resources, the Land Code Manager shall provide leadership, management, coordination of Kahkewistahaw activities and ensure compliance with regulations and standard operating procedures. The Lands Code Manager will be responsible for meeting the objectives of the Kahkewistahaw Land Code projects related to the use, occupancy and possession of Kahkewistahaw First Nation and the division of interests in the land specific to On and Off Reserve. Utilizing the best practices used by other First nations to meet the objectives of Chief, Council, Land Advisory Board, Administration and Band Members. Provide support and coordination with Regulatory Manager as a back-up assisting with the engaging of Band members, lease rent review, and industry and Government representatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
1. Have experience and knowledge with computers and software programs.
2. Must have strong organizational skills and work independently with minimum supervision.
3. Must have strong written and oral communication skills
4. Candidates must have experience and knowledge of how a First Nation Government is operated and conducts business.
5. Must have knowledge and experience working with Policy and Procedures Be punctual, dependable, reliable and committed to the position.
6. Possess the ability to maintain the management of confidential information and must be prepared to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
7. Must possess good communication skills (written and oral), and can read and interpret, orthophoto and topographic maps, etc.
8. Know how to negotiate permits/leases and assist with revenue collection as required.
9. Possess recognized Land Management Training, or willingness to take training.
