The Ministry of Social Services is offering an opportunity for term Child Protection Workers in Nipawin and Melfort. Join a team dedicated to providing protective, preventative, and support services to children and families under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act, using the Family Centered Case Management Model.
We are seeking compassionate, resilient professionals who can work in challenging situations with integrity and empathy. You will demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and be committed to improving outcomes for children and families. Flexibility to travel, work evenings and weekends, and transport children and parents is required.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university, approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE. Knowledge of child protection legislation, family dynamics, risk assessment, and intervention planning is essential. Cultural competence and the ability to work collaboratively with First Nations Child and Family Service agencies are important.
Responsibilities include investigating allegations of neglect or abuse, assessing family functioning, determining risk factors, and implementing intervention plans. You will initiate Family Court proceedings when necessary, manage childrens needs in care, and plan for reunification or long-term care, ensuring health, social, psychological, and educational needs are met.
