PLAYGROUND COORDINATOR
Non-Permanent - Summer
Applications are invited for the summer position of Playground Coordinator in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. The Playground Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating special events and other activities for the Citys Playground Program as well as training and supporting the Playground Supervisors.

The Playground Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating special events and other activities for the Citys Playground Program as well as training and supporting the Playground Supervisors.
The Coordinator would work from approximately mid June to the third week in August.
Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent;
Six (6) months of experience working on a playground; or two (2) seasons with the Citys Playground Program.
Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in the area of recreation or education.
Valid Drivers license.
First Aid and CPR C Certificate from a recognized institution.
WHMIS
Must have current Play Leader or Play Mentor status through SPRA.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the planning and coordination of staff training workshops and regular staff meetings.
Assist with the hiring of Playground Supervisors.
Provide guidance and direction to playground supervisors through the season
Schedule staff and assign duties for Special Event programming.
Compile play manuals.
Attend to all pre-opening and closing preparations.
Monitor activities at city playgrounds on a regular basis to enforce rules, policies and regulations governing the conduct of persons using the facility while promoting a leisure atmosphere.
Acquire and distribute supplies and materials.
Maintain and record accurate account of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
Assist with the implementation of promotional events.
