As the GGFN Justice Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and implementing justice initiatives within our community. This position combines advocacy, coordination, and community engagement to ensure effective administration of justice services and support systems for our on-reserve residents.

As the GGFN Justice Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and implementing justice initiatives within our community. This position combines advocacy, coordination, and community engagement to ensure effective administration of justice services and support systems for our on-reserve residents.

Manage or support initiatives tied to criminal justice reform, restorative justice, social justice, or equity-focused efforts
Provide justice support, guidance, and capacity development to the George Gordon members
Develop, enhance, and maintain justice related programs and partnerships with stakeholders. This will include proposal writing, organizing, planning, facilitating, directing, and evaluating
Works to support fairness, accountability, and access to justice within the community and system
Assist as required with the Alternative Measures/Extrajudicial Sanctions processes on George Gordon First Nation
Serve as a liaison between the Saskatchewan Ministry of Justice, Justice Canada, Crown Prosecutors, Defence Lawyers, R.C.M.P., Victim Support, Addictions, and Mental Health organizations, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Criminology, Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Justice, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience would be considered
Knowledge of Indigenous justice systems, traditions, and cultural practices
Certification in First Aid and CPR, ASIST, and Victim and Offender Mediation
Experience in community engagement, advocacy, and project management
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team
Understanding of the socio-economic challenges facing First Nation people on-reserve and in Saskatchewan
A valid Saskatchewan drivers license and reliable transportation
Must provide a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
Knowledge of local Indigenous languages and cultures is an asset
