The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Programs, is offering an opportunity for an Emergency Duty Worker/Case Assistant serving the communities of Creighton & Nipawin. The ministry provides protective and support services using a Family Centered Case Management Model and requires someone who can respond to urgent child welfare situations while also supporting daytime operations. This role provides critical afterhours emergency services and daytime case assistance under the direction of a Child and Family Programs Supervisor.
They are looking for someone who can work independently, build strong and genuine relationships, and bring welldeveloped judgment, risk assessment, and decisionmaking skills. The ideal candidate understands multicultural beliefs and values, particularly those of First Nations & Metis communities, and has strong knowledge of poverty, systemic barriers, and socioeconomic issues affecting families. The required knowledge is typically gained through a diploma or degree in a humanservicerelated field and experience working in a human service setting. Candidates must be legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle in SK.
Key skills include assessing child protection concerns, developing safety plans, supporting families in crisis, accompanying workers on investigations, observing and documenting interviews, coordinating case conferences, researching case information, and providing emergency financial aid. Additional responsibilities include transporting families, lifting and carrying small children, working flexible hours, and participating in a biweekly rotation covering evenings, weekends, & holidays. The position also requires collaboration with foster families, biological families, collateral agencies, and unit staff to support consistent & wellcoordinated service delivery.
