Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner, as part of Pediatric Subspecialty Programs - Gastroenterology focused, is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge & skills gained through additional education & experience specializing in pediatrics. The NP blends knowledge of advanced health assessment and diagnosis, therapeutic management with legal authority and autonomy to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in management and treatment of common acute pediatric illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The NP practices within a framework of evidence-based practice, health promotion, disease and injury prevention. The practice involves building partnerships with families and communities, including inter-professional collaboration and continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects. The NP has the competencies to practice in health care environments that assess and treat patients with acute and complex care needs.
