The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Child Protection Workers for the Nipawin office to provide services under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act. Using the Family Centered Case Management Model, you will deliver protective, preventative, and supportive services to children and families. Core responsibilities include investigating allegations of neglect or abuse, assessing family functioning and risk, developing and implementing intervention plans, and providing ongoing support. When required, you will initiate and participate in Family Court processes. For children admitted to the care of the Ministry, you will manage placements, coordinate assessments and treatment plans, and ensure their health, social, psychological, and educational needs are met. Longterm placements require ongoing planning and often collaboration with First Nation Child and Family Service agencies. The role involves travel, flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and the transportation of children and parents.
The Ministry offers engaging and meaningful work, competitive salary, full benefits including pension, various leave provisions, an inclusive environment, and growth opportunities. While priority is placed on increasing Indigenous representation, all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Candidates must clearly outline how their education and experience meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university is required, and flexibility to travel and work nonstandard hours is essential. This competition will create a sixmonth eligibility list for current and future vacancies.
