The Plumber Apprentice will report to the O & M Manager, work as a team member within the Housing & Public Works team, and maintain a positive relationship with the MFN Membership as you professionally provide residential plumbing diagnostic, repair and installation services. You will assist the Journeyman Plumber with new builds and commercial properties, and demonstrate accountability, confidence in decision making and problem-solving, work well as part of a team and be results oriented.
Job Duties:
- On-site problem diagnosis, accurately estimate repair costs, fixed right the first time and continual value-added communication with the residential occupant
- Install, maintain and repair all types of furnace systems and components
- Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls
- Install, repair and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping and controls
- Install, repair and maintain sinks, tubs and toilets, water heaters, conditioners, plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim
- Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
- Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
Requirements:
- Apprentice Certificate is required and willing to obtain gas licensing (Gasfitter License would be an asset)
- Must have at least 3 years of plumbing experience
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Experience in Refrigeration, HVAC, and Mechanics an asset
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Must have a driver's license with clean drivers abstract & have a reliable vehicle
- Must provide a clear and current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Must be physically capable of performing all work required of this position
