In this role, you will review and evaluate applications for Permits to Construct drinking water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems, ensuring compliance with The Environmental Management and Protection Act, The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations, applicable guidelines, and sound engineering practice. You will develop permit requirements and issue approvals that support sustainable growth while maintaining high standards of environmental and public health protection.
Beyond permitting, you will contribute to the development and modernization of protocols, standards, and regulatory tools, including updates to the Saskatchewan Environmental Code. This position also involves reviewing complex or high-profile applications, addressing public and stakeholder concerns, resolving technical challenges collaboratively, and preparing briefing materials and ministerial responses.

The successful candidate will have a Degree in Environmental Engineering or similar discipline with a focus on drinking water and wastewater treatment, a license to practice professional engineering from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), and at least 4 years of directly related experience in the design, construction and/or evaluation of drinking water and wastewater facilities.
