GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Accountable to the Director, Quality, Safety, and Strategy, the Infection Prevention and Control Consultant (IPCC) is responsible to provide leadership in developing infection control programming and services as well as developing standardized processes for infection prevention and control within the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA).
With support from the Provincial Manager, Patient and Staff Safety as well as the two Patient and Staff Safety Consultants, this position will provide leadership and technical expertise to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agencys provincial infection prevention and control (IPC) program. This position will work collaboratively with other health partners to ensure alignment of the SCAs IPC program and other provincial IPC programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in a health related discipline or 3 5 years previous experience working in a healthcare setting with application of Infection Prevention and Control Practices, and either
- Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control in an Infection Prevention and Control Canada (IPAC) endorsed course. Preferred Certificate in Infection Control (CIC) from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC)., OR
- Minimum 2 years of previous experience working as an Infection Control Practitioner or equivalent.
- If no certification, formal training must be completed within 2 years of hire.
