The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
Provides care and active listening to clients, making certain they feel safe and respected;
Carries out security checks on a regular basis to maintain client safety and security, never leaving the shelter unattended;
Coordinates client appointments and transportation needs;
Monitors who is in the shelter at all times;
Conducts intake with new clients, including case planning, providing hygiene essentials, and ensuring they are aware of applicable conditions of stay;
Helps provide consistent client care and communication across shifts by using the logbook to stay up-to-date on, and keep others aware of relevant information such as; current clients, safety concerns, maintenance needs, BT/CT calls, etc.
Identifies grocery needs and does shopping as needed;
Assists clients in the preparation of meals;
Provides referral services with the clients consent;
Prepares materials in advance of daily programming according to the pre-determined topic;
All other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
At least 2 years experience in a human services field;
Able to work shift work (i.e. Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends)
Basic understanding of domestic violence and its impacts;
Ability to speak and understand the Cree and/or Dene language is an asset;
Knowledgeable on resources within the community & methods of access;
Must possess a Valid Class 5 Drivers License;
Must provide a satisfactory and recent; Vulnerable Sector Check.
