Job Description
Student Related Support
Work collegially with teachers/administration/professional colleagues to
provide school level student support
Provide all students and their families with support for attendance, reducing
barriers to academics and all related areas on the path to graduation, as per
Provincial Educational Plan (PEP).
Assist in the collection and analyzation of student data.
Plan, Develop and utilize preventative strategies
Student Related Support
Work collegially with teachers/administration/professional colleagues to
provide school level student support
Provide all students and their families with support for attendance, reducing
barriers to academics and all related areas on the path to graduation, as per
Provincial Educational Plan (PEP).
Assist in the collection and analyzation of student data.
Plan, Develop and utilize preventative strategies to support students and
families using data and other identified needs within individual communities
Provide support for students struggling to cope with personal and
psychological issues affecting their school performance, behavior and
socialization
Provide crisis intervention support (examples include but not limited to suicide
ideation, self-harm, safety, abuse, neglect)
Address issues relevant to the student population specific to the SIP through
one on one, classroom or school-wide initiatives in consultation with
administration
Maintain case files and reports to track student challenges and progress and
to recognize patterns in behavior
Collaborate with teachers and administration to facilitate successful
transitions for students: Pre-K Kindergarten and grade 8 to high school
If required, coordinate transitions of students to and from home school and
alternate school settings
Collaborate with RCSD TRiP Advisor as needed
Preference will be given to a candidate holding a Social Work degree or relevant post
secondary education. A minimum of 2 years of experience in social work, health care,
justice, counselling and/or addictions is preferred.
