Job Description
Planning and Preparation
Work in collaboration with administration and school personnel to actualize
system Attendance Policy and Practices
Develop a calendar of events of planned excursions and field trips to be shared
with school administration and school personnel for student excused absences
throughout the year
Offer career counselling for Indigenous students that focus on course credits
obtained

Offer career counselling for Indigenous students that focus on course credits
obtained and required
Initiate or develop as needed a high school student mentorship program for
grades 9-12
Assist with the school learning improvement team and/or school success team as
needed in the development of a student success plan
Liaise with surrounding elementary school administrators and student support
teams to assist with elementary to high school transitioning with a focus on early
identification of students
Instructional and Assessment Leadership
Collect First Nations, Mtis and Inuit student data at assigned schools
Log and document individual student consultations
Track current academic, graduation and dropout rates
Work with High School counselors to collect data that involves Indigenous
students in regards to referrals and response to interventions
Work with school administration and school personnel to advocate for individual
students to stay in class and stay in school
Access high school credit recovery programs to support students who are at risk
for not completing course requirements i.e. tutorial, on-line courses
Work in conjunction with school administration team to develop S.M.A.R.T goals
Mediate and support as needed to advocate on behalf of Indigenous parents
and families and if needed provide immediate crisis intervention
Provide opportunities for community role models to speak to Indigenous students
Preference will be given to a candidate holding a Social Work degree or Bachelor of Education relevant post-secondary education.
