The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Emergency Duty Workers in Meadow Lake to provide afterhours crisis response for children and families. This permanent parttime role offers dynamic and meaningful work within Child & Family Programs, supporting the ministrys commitment to strong families, safe communities, and citizenfocused service. Hours vary based on emergency callouts, and the ministry encourages applications from all qualified candidates, with priority consideration for Indigenous applicants.
They are looking for individuals with strong knowledge of humanservices policies, practices, and procedures, typically gained through a diploma or degree in a humanservices field and/or experience in a related setting. Candidates must be legally eligible to operate a vehicle in Saskatchewan and able to work flexible hours, travel, and lift and carry small children. Strong assessment, communication, and crisisresponse skills are essential.
Key knowledge and skills include assessing child safety, investigating abuse or neglect referrals, determining risk, developing safety plans, and supporting families in crisis. The role also requires transporting children and families, providing emergency financial aid, and participating in a regular rotation for afterhours emergency services. The ability to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and work respectfully with diverse families and communities is critical.
Responsibilities include coordinating emergency interventions, documenting case actions, and collaborating with supervisors and partner agencies to ensure child safety.
